of participants and panel members
The workshop organized
by TERI on 16 May 2007 discussed possible energy solutions based
on Decentralized Distributed Generation (DDG) for the Common Service
Centres under the National e-Governance Programme of the Government
of India. The discussion focused on workable solutions based on
solar and biomass gasifier technologies to the CSCs which would
come up in villages which are poorly or not at all connected with
the grid.
The workshop was attended panelists from Department
of Information Technology, Ministry of Power, Ministry of New &
Renewable Energy, Tata BP Solar and IL&FS.
The participants list consisted of people from
the ICT industry who are keen in setting up ICT kiosks in different
divisions who are looking for power solutions for these kiosks and
energy service providers like TATA BP Solar, SUNTechnics, OVN BIO
Energy, ePower.
A major point which came out of the discussion
was that the biomass gasifier option can be used more at a community
level rather than an individual kiosk level because of its cost
economics.
A brief display of the Hybrid Universal Solar
Power Pack (HUSPP) and its features was explained to the participants.
The HUSPP is a 6 month long research effort, undertaken by TERI
and converted to a workable solution, specifically to answer the
power problem at the CSCs.
There were many other queries that could not
be addressed due to time constraint. IL&FS will collate all
the queries from the SCAs (State Coordinating Agencies) and send
them to TERI for redressal. The same will be posted on this site
in due course.
